About Translation Mavens

Translation Mavens is a friendly and welcoming online community run by Japanese-to-English translator Sarah Bull (See more about Sarah below). It is primarily for Japanese-to-English and English-to-Japanese translators and aspiring translators who strive to be the best they can be, and who are generous with their own wisdom.

I created this community for people (like me) who really enjoy and get a lot out of connecting with other translators, but who, for whatever reason, may not be able to participate in a lot of in-person translator gatherings.

Maybe you live outside of Tokyo, or Japan. Or you have kids. Perhaps you don’t know any other translators yet. Could it be that you’re an introvert and in-person events with lots of people exhaust you? Or maybe you’re busy working and can’t take the time out of your schedule.

Whatever your situation, if you’d like to connect with other translators online in a curated community, Translation Mavens might be what you’re looking for.

I’ll be sharing content relevant to the Japanese/English translation community as well as interviews with a diverse range of translators and people in the translation industry. If you have someone you would like me to interview or questions you’d like me to ask please drop me a line [here].

Please also feel free to start other discussions and ask questions or share resources here, as long as they are relevant to translation.

If you have something to promote, please ask me before posting.

There are no stupid questions here. Discussion is highly encouraged, but nastiness will not be tolerated. I want this to be a safe, friendly space where people can post without worrying that they will be shot down or trolled.
